My name is Stephanie, and I am currently studying for a doctorate in engineering at Stony Brook University. Due to the pandemic, deep socio-economic inequalities have been exposed, and the Hispanic community has been one of the hardest-hit groups. These inequalities are perpetuated by low educational attainment among Hispanics. Science, technology, engineering, and mathematical (STEM) occupations, which have been difficult to fill in the United States due to a lack of workforce, represent an opportunity for Hispanics to overcome these inequalities. The purpose of my blog is to inspire Hispanic students to study and remain in STEM fields by blogging about my academic and work experience.
